WHY BRAZIL “NUTS”?
First off, did you know that Brazil “Nuts” are actually seeds? They are dense and delicious and seem like a nut, but you can tell by how easily they digest that they’re actually seeds! So I call ‘em “Brazil Nut Seeds”.
If not for the taste and ease, you can eat these for the selenium boost. You will find selenium in only a few natural foods, so it’s exciting that Brazil nut seeds in particular are INCREDIBLY rich in selenium! Selenium helps with joint health and can be a real nightmare to be deficient in.
Separate from selenium, Brazil nut seeds are rich in magnesium, phosphorus, manganese, thiamin, vitamin E, and fiber.
RECIPE: EASIEST MILKSHAKE EVER
(Raw, Vegan, Gluten-Free, & Delish!)
Oh my! The first time I made this recipe, I spent no more than 3 minutes preparing it, then as soon as we tried it, my husband was busy plotting away on we could bottle it and sell it. It’s that good that he figured you’d be nuts (!) not to buy it.
But seriously, it’s SO EASY! And SO delicious! I hope you will enjoy a glass of this too. CHEERS to good health, easy digestion, and happy joints!
Yield: 1 liter (enough for 2, usually…)
- 1 1/2 cups ice
- 1 cup water
- 2/3 cup Brazil nut seeds
- 3 large bananas
- 2 Tablespoons of your favorite chocolate powder (cacao, cocoa, or carob all work great!)
- optional: 1 teaspoon cinnamon (this is particularly recommended if you’re using carob for your chocolate)
- optional: 1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
Blend! DONE! (No straining nut milk or freezing bananas needed!)
